What are SMT Line and DIP Line
SMT (Surface Mount Technology) is the most popular technology and process in the electronics assembly industry. It is a circuit assembly technology in which surface-mounted components are mounted on the surface of a circuit board or on the surface of another substrate, and soldered and assembled by reflow soldering or dip soldering.
DIP is the abbreviation of Dual In-line Package. It refers to a device packaged with a plug-in package. The number of pins generally does not exceed 100. Often referred to as "DIP soldering" or "DIP soldering" refers to soldering DIP-packaged devices after SMT.
The SMT chip is generally mounted with lead-free or short-lead surface-mounted components. First, solder paste needs to be printed on the circuit board, then mounted by a chip mounter, and then the device is fixed by reflow soldering. The DIP welding is a direct-in-package packaged device, which is fixed by wave soldering or manual soldering.
SMT and DIP are part of PCBA processing, but not all PCBA factories have SMT and DIP post-soldering capabilities, and the processing quality is also uneven. When choosing a PCBA factory for cooperation, it is recommended to go to the factory for a site inspection to see the factory personnel technology, processing equipment, and the overall environment of the factory.
